Scott wrote this song after a conversation with David Ross McDonald, who’d just had his eighty year old guitar repaired, and found it had lost something of its character in the process. He was understandably pretty mortified and in trying to console him Scott asked what he could do. David replied “Never mind, I’m just borrowing it from the next guy.” Scott says that was the seed that grew, over time, into this song. For me it’s one of the finest pieces of song-writing I’ve come across in years. It has appeared on several albums in several countries and I’m proud to add it to another.
